“We’re surrounded by famous people!”
Last night my friends and I sat around the TV for time that definitely could have been used to get caught up on reading the four books I’m supposed to have read weeks ago in preparation for my final exams. But obviously, we give into scripted television - and just about anything else that takes us to a world outside of NYU walls - any day, so we each had a reserved time slot of TV time. My slot, though, was interrupted by Logan annoucing Josiah Lemming (of American Idol fame - and her long time friend from home) would be visiting.Â
It turned out everyone, including myself, preferred hanging out with Joey in person over watching my friend from home, Adam Brock, on MTV’s The Paper. (It’s MTV - so the show will be replayed thirty times over the next week, anyway.)
So I watched the first 3 minutes of the show which opened with Amanda proclaiming “journalists are the most important part of the world. They really are.” And she was being serious! After watching that, I was assured MTV finally decided to not script their shows. And if that was scripted, I want that girl in the movie I plan to write this summer - cause she was great at keeping a straight face.
I guess while you’re in the sheltered world of high school journalism, it’s easy to believe that. I mean, when I was editor in chief, I got my own reserved parking spot at school.
I decided to turn the TV off right after that; but I know when I watch the entire episode, I’ll be taken back to my senior year at Spanish River - and that definitely beats being three weeks away from final exams and move-out day. It sucks to know that in about three weeks I’ll be leaving my room with a view of Washington Square Park behind, and my internship, and my amazing friends. But I really can’t complain: I’m going back to Boca. Sunny. Clean. Beachy Boca. And these friends of mine will be around for the next four, five, six, seven (…you get the point)Â years anyway.
BUT of course, being the complicated, spoiled person I like to be, there’s still the possibility I’ll stay in the city and keep working at Maxim. I’ll probably procrastinate that decision. Like I procrastinate my homework and blog posts.
If anyone’s out there, say hello. Post funny links (or links to full online episodes of Weeds.) I’ll love you forever.
No commentsThe Introduction.
I consider myself a pretty computer-savvy guy. I mean, computers basically rule our lives now. Most of us wake up and - before brushing our teeth - roll over to our laptops and check our e-mails. (Ok, so maybe it’s only me that does that every morning in hopes my professor will cancel class.) I use my computer everyday for everything - but when I got started on creating this masterpiece of a blog, I was baffled.
So my first blog post was a cry for help - but I got over it. I mainly had to deal with the fact that I had to choose a layout from a selection of templates, which kind of upset me as a designer myself. At that point, though, I failed to realize that even if I did have the chance to design something, I have no experience in web design, so it would have looked like one of those websites for companies who spend all their money on things other than their online presence (I ran into one today while at work, so it came to mind for an example.) Regardless, this template had some awesome design elements - so props to whoever designed it.
I included an “about the writer” page because I didn’t want to spend my first blog entry writing about myself. The page next to that is the “about ‘in living color’” page which basically serves the same purpose. Check them out and you’ll get some insight into what this cool little page will do for you. (Links to those pages live on the top right corner of the home page.)
I promise a “real” post will come extremely soon. It is currently 74 degrees in New York City, an event that has not occurred since like, August, so I have to get outside and enjoy it. The forecast for tomorrow does not look as promising, so I’ll be blogging away.
In the mean time, here’s a picture I took with my phone this morning on the way back from class. I promise it hasn’t been this nice in a while.

Difficulty Level: Ummm?
Making a blog is much more difficult than I thought it would be.
